Watched the rough assembly of the Jotunheim sequence today. Pure, unfiltered kinetic energy. As someone who has spent decades orchestrating fight choreography, this is exactly how you strip away the polished Hollywood sheen and show a genuine battle of attrition.

John Cena and Joel Kinnaman put in serious work here. When Kinnaman establishes that dominant mount position, you can see the technical commitment—it’s textbook grappling, using his base and body weight to entirely shut down the lower body. For two massive guys, maintaining that level of explosive resistance while locked chest-to-chest takes an incredible amount of cardiovascular conditioning and core strength. Every frame radiates the physical friction of tactical gear slamming against concrete.

The camera framing grounds everything beautifully. They didn’t rely on quick cuts or shaky-cam tricks to hide poor technique; they just let the actors sweat, strain, and exert maximum force. The focus on the boots digging into the debris for traction is a great touch—good footwork and anchoring are everything in a real grapple. Seeing Flag drive that iron pipe down into the choke with his biceps fully pumped and veins bulging across his neck is a masterclass in portraying physical leverage. It reminded me of some of the old-school, high-stakes brawls we used to map out where every strike had to look heavy, exhausting, and completely desperate.

The transition to the final blow is devastatingly sharp. Just when one fighter achieves total positional dominance, the baseline shifts instantly with a single hidden variable. Exceptional stunt coordination all around.
