PEACEMAKER vs RICK FLAIR by Scott Adkins

Starring
Just rewatched the Jotunheim bathroom brawl between Kinnaman and Cena in The Suicide Squad. Phenomenal piece of raw, gritty choreography. In my line of work, especially with a character like Boyka, audiences expect to see high-flying acrobatics, spinning kicks, and fluid MMA transitions. But this scene showcases the absolute flip side of the coin: pure, ugly, suffocating survival grappling.
What Kinnaman does from that top mount is textbook military brawler technique. He drives his dark tactical boots firmly into the shattered concrete debris, anchoring his lower half to completely paralyze Cena’s hips. There is an incredible amount of physical friction captured by the lens—you can practically feel his body weight and the grinding of the rubber soles against the filthy floor. Beneath him, Cena sells the desperation brilliantly. Those massive, armored combat boots are splayed wide, frantically digging into the broken tiles to find a single inch of traction. If you don’t show the footwear fighting the floor during a ground grapple, the struggle loses all its gravity. Here, you feel the massive weight of two absolute tanks.
The muscular tension in the upper body is completely off the charts. Cena, with his rigid blue gauntlets locked onto his forearms, is forcing a maximum-effort survival bench press, his biceps completely pumped and vascular under the harsh, clinical bathroom lights. Kinnaman, with the veins in his neck ready to burst, pours every remaining ounce of his strength down into that iron pipe choke. Their faces are inches apart—a suffocating, eye-to-eye intensity that borders on a raw, physical obsession. It’s hyper-masculinity pushed to the absolute edge of exhaustion, two peak specimens burning up all their oxygen in a locked room.
And then, the tragic anti-climax. Flag has the perfect positional dominance, he’s crushing down with everything he’s got, but in real tactical combat, a second of overconfidence kills. Cena blindly reaches out, grabs that jagged piece of broken porcelain, and drives it straight into Flag’s heart. The sudden transition from maximum explosive power to total, cold stillness is a massive gut punch. Flag goes rigid, then collapses as pure dead weight onto Cena’s chest. It’s visceral, cruel, and beautifully executed by the stunt team. Brilliant work.
