Introduction

Rook Varela is 25 years old and grew up in the industrial outskirts of the harbor district, drifting between underground gyms, warehouse jobs, and trouble he never fully escaped. Quiet, disciplined, and dangerous when cornered, Rook built a reputation in illegal fight circles for his explosive speed and ruthless body shots. He rarely speaks before a match — and almost never after.

A former amateur kickboxer banned for excessive violence during an unsanctioned bout, Rook disappeared from the local scene for nearly a year. Rumors said he worked private security for smugglers along the docks. Others claimed he spent time in juvenile detention under another name. Nobody knows for sure, and Kai never corrects the stories.

Only recently did he join the gang of Errol Drax, one of the city’s rising underworld bosses. Drax spotted him during a basement fight tournament where Rook defeated a veteran enforcer in under two minutes. Impressed by his composure and loyalty potential, Drax brought him into the organization as muscle and debt collector.

Within the gang, Rook is still considered untested. Older members distrust newcomers, especially one who keeps his emotions hidden. But Drax sees something useful in him: discipline, hunger, and the ability to intimidate without saying a word.
